SUMMER EYOF 2011 - OLYMPIC TORCH REACHES ANKARA ON ITS WAY TO TRABZON
Ankara, July 19 - The Flame lit at the Panathenaic Stadium in Athens on May 24 stayed at NOC headquarters in Istanbul until July 16, when it was given to EYOF General Coordinator Nihat Doker by the Vice President of the NOC of Turkey Türker Aslan, during a ceremony held at the Olympic House, and after having completed a 2.5 km relay across the city.
Having reached the Turkish capital after a short trip by plane, the Olympic Torch has now left for Trabzon where, during the Opening Ceremony for the 11th Summer European Youth Olympic Festival on 24 July, it will be used to light the caldron where the Olympic Flame will burn throughout the event, which ends July 29.
