2018 WINTER OLYMPIC GAMES - IOC SEMINAR UNDERWAY AT THE HOST CITY
Pyeongchang (KOR), August - Gunilla Lindberg, the chairperson of the IOC Coordination Commission for the XXIII winter Olympic Games, and Gilbert Felli, the director of the IOC Olympic Games Department, are leading a three-day seminar organized by the IOC for all stakeholders of the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Games organisation.
More than 150 representatives from the national, provincial and city governments, the hospitality industry, private sector, sport federations and the bid committee are taking part in the seminar which is being held at the Alpensia ski resort.
The seminar is meant to bring the same pictured and the same lot of information to all stakeholders, as "It's one thing to bid and another thing to organize" explained Ms Lindberg in an interview.
The IOC commission, which will closely monitor the Pyeongchang organizers until the opening ceremony on 9th February 2018, comprises 10 members, among which Europeans Gian-Franco Kasper (SUI), representative of the AIOWF (the international association of winter sports federations), and the IOC members Ottavio Cinquanta (ITA), HRH Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark, René Fasel (SUI) and Adam L. Pengilly (GBR).
Ms Lindberg, who led the 2018 Evaluation Commission, and has rejoined the IOC Executive Board for a third mandates, is an IOC member since 1996 and Secretary General of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) since 2004. She brings vast experience from her time spent on Coordination Commissions for five Olympic Games.
