The establishment of the International Fair Play Committee in 1963 was initiated by a number of international organisations including UNESCO, International Sports Press Association (AIPS), International Committee for Sport Science and Physical Education (ICSSPE) and International Federations of Basketball, Football, Rugby and Wrestling. Since that time the CIFP has fostered and maintained strong and cooperative partnerships with numerous institutions and organisations with the aim of the worldwide promotion of fair play. In its mission the major partners of the CIFP have been the IOC, UNESCO, The International Pierre de Coubertin Committee, Panathlon International, International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education, AIPS and the European Fair Play Movement.
