UK wishes Tokyo 2020 well in its bid to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games
Tokyo, 12 Apr. 2012 – British Prime Minister David Cameron met with Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda on April 10 in a bid to strengthen their strategic partnership based on its shared values. The two Prime Ministers offered their words of encouragement to each other during the meeting, with the UK also wishing the Japanese capital well in their bid to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2020.
The heartfelt message from one country to another country was yet another example of the universality of the Olympic Movement and its timeless values of respect and friendship for all people.
The Joint Statement by the Prime Ministers of the UK and Japan said: "We hope that the London Olympic and Paralympic Games will be a great success, serving as an excellent opportunity to further deepen the bonds between Japan and the UK. Hosting the Olympics is an opportunity to realise sporting hopes and dreams and the UK wishes Tokyo well in its bid to host the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
