 Mr. Gazanfer Bilge is a well-known champion wrestler of Turkey. He was the European champion for free-style wrestling at 62 kg in 1946, champion of the free-style wrestling at 62 kg in 1948 London Olympics. As a civil occupation he has a large bus firm on transportation. He supported the district of Karamürsel, in which he was born and grown up, by building up a school, an orphanage, a sports education center and a building for homeless people, from his own funds. He supported many young wrestlers and students with scholarships. Now, he is 79 and he is going to serve as like as before. He was honoured with the 2002 Fair Play Trophy for promoting the fair play by the Fair Play Council of the NOC of Turkey. |
