Fair Play at the 83rd AIPS Congress

The International Sport Press Association (AIPS) held its congress in Budapest in the last days.

Among others the International Fair Play Committee (CIFP) was also invited to this several days lasting program, such as many international sports federation, like International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), European Handball Federation (EHF), International Judo Federation (IJF), International Swimming Federation (FINA), World Athletics (WA) and the International University Sports Federation (FISU).  Among the patrons of this event were Mr. Jenő Kamuti, President of the International Fair Play Committee.

AIPS was one of the founding members of the committee CIFP in 1963, so the cooperation between the two organisations dates back to many decades.  Dr. Jenő Kamuti, President of the International Fair Play Committe, recalled the memories of the common past in his short speech and also thanked to AIPS for the honorable invitation. On behalf of the CIFP, Mr. Jenő Kamuti acknowledged the dedicated work of the international sports journalists society for their promotion of Fair Play values all over the world with a special Fair Play Award. The award was taken over by Mr. Gianni Merlo, President of the AIPS.

Jacques Ferran posthumous award was also handed over at the AIPS congress. French journalist of L’Epique passed away last year so unfortunately he could not personally take over this award. The prize was taken over by Mr. Thibaut Lespagnol, the Deputy Head of Mission at French Embassy in Hungary.
