CIFP-FISU Memorandum of Understanding signed

The Steering Committee of the International University Sports Federation visited Budapest, Hungary between May 29 and May 31. The leaders of FISU had an important meeting with Dr. Jeno Kamuti, President of the International Fair Play Committee. As a result of previous preparations during the 28th Winter Universiade in Almaty, both organizations signed a long-awaited Memorandum of Understanding.

“I can honestly say that for many years we have had a very good relationship with FISU President Oleg Matytsin. We both share the same ideals about the values of Fair Play, and we are also committed to University Sports. Nothing proves this better, that before his election as President of FISU, Oleg used to be a member of the International Fair Play Committee” – explained President Kamuti.

“We have always talked about promoting Fair Play as much as we can among university athletes. Our last discussion took place in Almaty, and afterward, things happened faster. The preparation ended now, by signing the agreement – continued the Hungarian sports diplomat. “The next step is to organize Fair Play appearances not only at the Universiades but also at the World University Championships. Beside these projects, we would like to strengthen our relationship with trainings, conferences and the organization of joint Fair Play events.”

“Both President Matytsin and the leadership of FISU have a positive approach to work with us. One of the main topics of our current meeting was the 2017 Summer Universiade, to be held in Taipei, this August. I was glad to hear that the preparation is going well, the local organizers can’t wait to welcome the World’s best university athletes with professional circumstances. The Fair Play stand will be set up at the most frequented part of the Athletes’ Village, between the Media and the Visitors’ Centre, facing the Accreditation desks. This shows that the FISU holds the presence of Fair Play in high esteem – finished Dr. Jeno Kamuti.

The 29th Summer Universiade will be held in Taipei City, between August 19 and August 30.
