CGF celebrates Queen's Silver Jubilee with film

LONDON, June 3, 2012 - The Commonwealth Games Federation has marked the celebrations of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee with a special film now available on the CGF website and YouTube channel, telling the story of HM Queen Elizabeth 11's involvement with the Commonwealth Games.

"The Queen and the Games" tells the story of a long-standing association. The Queen is the patron of the CGF and has long believed that sport is a great force for good and can be used to build communities and create harmony in society. She has always placed huge importance on supporting 'the friendly games'.

"We are very proud to mark Her Majesty's Diamond Jubilee with this tribute," says Commonwealth Games Federation President HRH Prince Imran. "t is a small marker of the respect we have for her and our thanks for her commitment to the games over the years."

The next Commonwealth Games will be held in Glasgow in 2014. The organisers expect to sell a million tickets to 250 medal events.

The film 'The Queen and the Games', narrated by BBC sports commentator Barry Davies, and featuring many never-before-seen images of the Queen from the archives of the CGF is available now at www.thecgf.com.

The CGF would like to thank Getty Images, George Scott and Fusion Films for all their help and assistance.
