EUROPEAN NOCs GATHER IN BUDAPEST FOR 2012 SEMINAR

Budapest (HUN), 26 April - the 33rd EOC Seminar opened in the Hungarian capital on Thursday afternoon and will run through to Saturday, during which time the European NOCs will exchange points of view on the issues upon which their daily work is based.
Saturday evening the delegates will gather for a farewell dinner at Godollo Castle, Empress Sissi's famous castle, where they will attend the ceremony for the award of the 2012 International Fair Play Committee's Award.

Following the Opening Ceremony - held in the presence of the Hungarian Minister for Sport, Attila Czene, EOC President Patrick Hickey, the President of the hosting NOC Zolt Borkai and IOC Members Pal Schmitt (Hungary) and Ser Miang Ng (Singapore) - works commenced under the direction of the Association's Secretary General Raffaele Pagnozzi. The London Games, now just three months away, and preparations for the Sochi Winter Games took the lion's share of the plenary sessions, but the seminar also included two workshops, which this year address two themes that are crucial to the progress of European sport, engaged in defending its position in the Olympic medal rankings: a talent identification project, and new ways of communicating.

The Budapest seminar was preceded by a meeting of the Executive Committee.
