Fair Play presentation at UNESCO MINEPS VII Conference in Baku

UNESCO held “MINEPS VII Global Sports Conference” in Baku, whish was attended by ministers and senior officials responsible for physical education and sport, as well as representatives of a number international sports organisations. 

The International Fair Play Committee (CIFP) was represented by the President, dr. Jenő Kamuti, and the Executive Director, Gábor Deregán, who gave a presentation about Fair Play and activities of the 60 years old organisation, at the request of UNESCO. The high quality presentation was attended by around 300 participiants.

MINEPS, with nearly 40 countries represented at sports ministerial level, was an opportunity for world’s sports leaders to have bilaterial discussions, that international sports need today. The growing importance of sports diplomacy in the world, both at national and sport-organisational level, was clearly evident at this major multi-day event.

The leaders of CIFP were received in their offices by Farid Gayibov, Azerbaijani Minister of Youth and Sports and Khazar Isayev, one of the Vice-Presidents of Azerbaijan Olympic Committee, and head of the local Fair Play Committee (cover photo).During the friendly meeting, parties discussed Fair Play events for the near future, including the European Fair Play Award Ceremony, which will also be hosted by Baku this autumn. The Minister expressed his appreciation for the work of the International Fair Play Committee and indicated that Azerbaijan was open to closer cooperation, including regional cooperation.

Fair Play representatives met with Leonz Eder, President of the International University Sports Federation, and Fernando Parente, Director of Development, to discuss the Summer World University Games, formerly known as Universiade, which will start in China at the end of July. The CIFP will again has a stand at the Chengdu-event, thanks to the long-standing cooperation between the two organiations.

‘”I am very glad, that we have been again invited by one of our founding organisations, UNESCO, to participate at the MINEPS. It is vital for us, as international organisation, to be present at such high-level events. It is great to feel the respect and interest in Fair Play. Ministers, presidents and respected sports leadears have congratulated us on our work. Of course, it still have a lot of works to do, but I can say that the international popularity of Fair Play has increased significantly in recent times, as confirmed by the feedback, we have received here’’ – said President Jenő Kamuti, summarizing his experiences in Baku.
