Katarína Ráczová received the prestigious World Fair Play Trophy award
“Katarína has wonderful qualities. She always strives to succeed — in sport, in society and in public life. She has always tried to follow the principles of fair play. I learned a great deal from her.”
— Jenő Kamuti, Honorary President of the International Fair Play Committee

Slovakia’s most successful fencer in history, Katarína Ráczová, celebrated a remarkable milestone in the Slovak Olympic and Sports Museum in Bratislava. Friends, colleagues and admirers gathered on the symbolic occasion of her name day to congratulate her on her 75th birthday and on receiving the World Fair Play Trophy — the highest distinction awarded by the International Fair Play Committee. The award was presented by Jenő Kamuti, Olympic silver medallist and Honorary President of the International Fair Play Committee, who has been both her long-time friend and colleague in promoting fairness in sport. The event, titled “Katarína on the piste”, celebrated not only her sporting achievements but also her lifelong dedication to integrity, education, and the values of fair play.

Throughout her life, Katarína Ráczová has been admired not only for her outstanding results — including a World Championship silver medal — but especially for the values she consistently embodies. Her entire career reflects deep respect for opponents, unwavering honesty, and an insistence on winning only through fair means. After retiring from competition, she passed these ideals on to younger generations as a dedicated coach, encouraging them to pursue their dreams with perseverance, humility and integrity. Her life philosophy, built on resilience and learning from setbacks, has shaped countless young athletes, while her positive energy and commitment to community values have made her an inspiring figure both within and beyond the world of sport. A touching documentary film about her life was shown during the celebration, moving her and the audience deeply.
