Ellie Black a true role model for the next generation competing in the balance beam final on October 25, she delivered a graceful and precise routine, earning a fifth-place. This performance marked her ninth World Championships appearance, highlighting her longevity and dedication within Canadian gymnastics. Following her competition, Ellie had the honor of physically receiving the Paris 2024 Fair Play Award during a formal presentation at the Championships.
Ellie earned the Fair Play Award for a memorable moment at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games,
when she and her Canadian teammate Shallon Olsen comforted French gymnast Mélanie de Jesus dos Santos, after a challenging qualification round. Observing her friend in tears, Ellie offered support and encouragement, reminding her that "she was not alone and that she herself is enough, and sport doesn’t define who we are." This heartfelt act of empathy and solidarity perfectly embodies the spirit of fair play, inspiring athletes and fans around the world.
