IOC releases 2020 Evaluation Commission Report
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) today released the report by the Evaluation Commission for the Games of the XXXII Olympiad. The report follows the Commission's visits to the three Candidate Cities bidding to host the 2020 Summer Olympic Games: Istanbul (Turkey), Tokyo (Japan) and Madrid (Spain).
PyeongChang making good progress on journey to 2018
The International Olympic Committee (IOC)'s Coordination Commission for the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games today wrapped up its second visit to the city in the northeast of the Republic of Korea by praising the progress being made by the local organisers.
Ufa becomes 30th City on Russian Leg of Torch Relay
UFA - On June 18th, the Flame of the 27th Summer Universiade visited the 30th city on the Torch Relay run, as inhabitants of the Republic of Bashkortostan's host city Ufa greeted the main symbol of the Universiade. The Torch arrived in Ufa after its previous stop in Orenburg. The 38 Torchbearers were the heroes of the Relay, carrying the Flame through the streets of the city.
New York Forum closes with call for an International Day of Sport
The 3rd International Forum on Sport for Peace and Development, held at the UN headquarters in New York from 5 to 6 June 2013, closed with a declaration, including a call for the creation of a "United Nations International Day of Sport and Physical Activity", unanimously supported by the more than 400 Forum participants.
