Prince Albert II and Pál Schmitt, President of Hungary Pays Visit to Fair Play Pavilion

The Fair Play Team welcomed prestigious guests at their pavilion at Congress Innsbruck on the second competition day. Prince Albert II of Monaco as well as Pál Schmitt, the President of Hungary paid a visit to the fair play booth and shared their experience of fair play with the young athletes.

Prince Albert who has been an Olympian himself and participated in five Winter Olympic Games as a bobsledder emphasized that the Youth Olympic Games are a great initiative such as the Culture and Education Programme. It is extremely important for the youth to learn about fair play and all its values like friendship, respect, solidarity and cooperation. All athletes should follow the rules of fair play not only on the sporting field but also in everyday life.

Pál Schmitt, the President of Hungary, IOC Member and Olympic Champion in fencing said that the foundation of sport is fair play. When you compete you must acknowledge that there is a winner and a loser too and every athlete has to respect their opponent either they win or they lose. Fair play teaches the real values and spirit of sport.
