Jenő Kamuti, CIFP President visited the IOC on Wednesday with Sunil Sabharwal, Secretary General CIFP, where they had meeting with Angelita Teo, Director of the Olympic Foundation for Culture and Heritage and Frédérique Jamolli, Head of International Cultural Affairs IOC.
The year 2024 is of particular importance for both organisations because of the Olympic Games Paris 2024. In this context, the sports leaders discussed this year’s programs, with a special focus on the events planned for the Olympics. Jenő Kamuti first summarized last year’s events to the Director, Ms Teo, then talked about the activities under preparation or planned for 2024. In the spirit of the Olympics, a conference is being prepared with 5 IOC recognised organisations in Paris at the UNESCO Palace during the Olympics. President Kamuti also invited the two sports leaders to the Olympic Qualifier Series – OQS in Budapest in June, for which CIFP is also preparing.
During the friendly meeting the IOC representatives highlighted the importance of Fair Play in sport and the need to raise awareness of it. They said they would do their utmost to support the CIFP. The parties agreed to develop closer and more intensive relation in the future.
The International Fair Play Committee (CIFP) is an IOC-recognized organisation founded by the UNESCO and a number of prestigious international sports governing bodies in 1963. The committee’s prime aim was and still is to support and promote fairness and equal opportunity and to formally pay tribute to those men and women, children and adolescents and sports-related organisations throughout the world who have exhibited fair play on the sporting field or throughout their careers, or who have conducted an activity promoting fair play.
