Bringing the “fair” back into play - World conference of sports ministers to discuss ways of cleaning up sport and making it accessible for all

Fighting corruption and manipulation in sport, increasing public investment, and with it the impact and standards of mega events and the provision of equal access to physical education and sport for all, will be the focus of the International Conference of Ministers and Senior Officials Responsible for Physical Education and Sport (MINEPS V), to be held in Berlin (Germany) from 28 to 30 May.

INCHEON, Korea, November 17,2011 - The total budget for the 17th Asian Games in Incheon, Korea, in 2014 will be US$1.62 billion, organisers revealed on Wednesday. Venue construction will account for US$1.393 billion, or 86 per cent of the total, followed by road projects (US$103 million, 6 per cent), private venue construction (US$54 million, 3 per cent), training venues (US$11 million, 0.6 per cent) and other costs (US$59 million, 4 per cent).

Jeno Kamuti, President of the International Fair Play Committee presented Antonio Leal, Venezuelan fencer, with Fair Play award for his outstanding behavior during the Pan-American Games.  
During the men’s foil semi-finals the score was 14-14. Antonio Leal indicated to the referee that his opponent had win the point. As a result, his opponent made it to the final and Leal finished the Games placed 3rd.

LAUSANNE, November 6, 2011 - The International Olympic Committee (IOC)’s 2020 Applicant City Seminar wrapped up Friday in Lausanne, with representatives from all six cities bidding for the 2020 Olympic Games in attendance.

Delegates from the 2020 Applicant Cities of Baku (Azerbaijan), Doha (Qatar), Istanbul (Turkey), Madrid (Spain), Rome (Italy) and Tokyo (Japan) took part in the two-day meeting, which was led by Olympic Games Executive Director Gilbert Felli and Head of Bid City Relations Jacqueline Barrett.
