Ethiopia’s world 10,000m silver medallist Letesenbet Gidey has been named winner of the International Fair Play Award as part of the World Athletics Awards 2023. Following nominations from fans, members of the International Fair Play Committee (CIFP) and World Athletics formed a jury to decide on a shortlist of fair play moments.

The International Fair Play Committee held the second Council Meeting of this year on 21 October 2023. The meeting took place before the World Fair Play Award gala ceremony in Budapest.

Four organisations, the International Fair Play Committee, the Panathlon International, the European Fair Play Movement and the Panathlon Wallonie-Bruxelles have unveiled together a new and original tool to promote Fair Play: the “perpetual calendar for a Fair Play World”.

The International Fair Play Committee (CIFP), in partnership with World Athletics /WA/, is inviting athletics fans across the world to nominate moments that epitomise fair play with a view to recognising one standout athlete or moment at the World Athletics Awards later this year.
